Back to School

Wow, I can't believe summer's almost gone.  It seems like it flew by, with the two conferences I attended this summer, the girls and their two weeks in Colorado, and my graduation in Phoenix - followed by a short vacation in southern California.  The girls have been back in school three weeks.  They are part of Georgia's newest online public school - Georgia Connections Academy (GACA)- and are enjoying it.

The girls are not newcomers to online education; they attended Colorado Virtual Academy and Georgia Cyber Academy - both schools using the K12 curriculum.  With the switch to GACA comes a new curriculum and online learning management system.  As a learning coach, it is very easy for me to navigate around but I am noticing some interesting differences in the system, which I like.

The girls will get to meet other GACA students this week at a bowling event - I can't wait to meet other parents and kids, not to mention the teachers and staff!

Whatever the start of this new school year may bring, I play for blessing and prosperity for each person who reads this.

Six months? Spring is here, summer is coming!

Has it really been over six months since I've updated this?  I apologize for my absence.

We are well into spring and coming close to the end of the school year and the start of the crazy summer travel schedule.

I am excited to share that, since my last post, Georgia Connections Academy has been approved to open for the 2011-2012 school year.  As a founding board member and a parent looking for more virtual school options for my children, I couldn't be happier!

Next month, I will get to visit the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.  Stay tuned to see who's going with me!

Next month, I will also attend the Independent Mystery Shoppers Coalition (IMSC) conference in Orlando, FL.

In July, the girls go to visit their grandparents for two weeks.  I will be in Washington, DC during part of that time with other parent leaders in support of online K-12 education.  Then we all get to go to Phoenix for my graduation (Masters in Health Administration, Education emphasis) from University of Phoenix - Online campus.  After that, we will spend a week in California visiting friends and family.

Then, back to school in August!

Stay tuned for updates on our spring and summer adventures!
